RATH introduces ULTIFORM® vacuum-formed products: High-performance thermal insulation for continuous operation up to 1400 °C

Vienna, March 19, 2026
The newly developed high-performance thermal insulation material ULTIFORM® is based on the innovative, non-classified polycrystalline high-temperature wool ALTRA® 1500C, combined with fillers and organic as well as inorganic binders. The material offers a range of performance advantages:
- High temperature resistance: ULTIFORM® provides high-quality thermal insulation for continuous operation at temperatures of up to 1400 °C. The maximum classification temperature is 1500 °C.
- Excellent material properties: ULTIFORM® offers very high corrosion resistance, very low thermal conductivity and strong resistance to thermal cycling.
- Alternative to classified fibers: As a non-classified insulation material, ULTIFORM® can replace classified fibers such as a replacement for aluminosilicate wool.
- Flexible supply formats: ULTIFORM® vacuum-formed products are available as custom-made components and as board material for flexible in-house processing, giving furnace manufacturers maximum design flexibility for both standard solutions and individually manufactured components.
- Excellent machinability: ULTIFORM® vacuum-formed products are easy to machine and offer a very smooth surface quality with low porosity.
Vacuum-formed products for complex geometries and precision-engineered custom components
ULTIFORM® vacuum-formed products, produced at RATH’s Krummnußbaum facility in Austria, are the right choice wherever high precision, tight tolerances, complex geometries and custom manufacturing are required, including for small, intricate components. Typical applications include thermal insulation in laboratory furnaces, thermal analysis equipment, dental furnaces and specialized furnaces. In industrial furnace construction, ULTIFORM® can also be used in selected areas, typically for specific components rather than as a complete lining.
“ULTIFORM® reflects RATH’s focus on high-quality, practical solutions for demanding thermal insulation applications. The material combines strong performance with cost efficiency, making it an attractive option for companies looking for versatile insulation materials for high-temperature applications,” says Christopher Kluthe, Senior R&D Manager at RATH.
